Okay, I've been thinking--and don't call me crazy--but maybe transitioning is a form of "super protective" style?
Think about it. You are transitioning to be natural so the relaxed end aren't the ends you'll be moving on in our journey with. They will eventually be cut away. Where the natural hair meets the relaxed ends or even a little above that, will be your new ends. They are protected by being "tucked away" in the middle of your strands. Call me what you like, but the thought of 100% retention of my natural hair facilitated by the protection of the relaxed ends doesn't make me want to run to the scissors any time soon. We'll see...4 months to go!
