Paul Mitchell Original The Conditioner Review

Watch the video: https://youtu.be/5QOCk6fGgcc

I feel so fancy with this Paul Mitchell salon product in my arsenal! Paul Mitchell is a salon brand that is not ridiculously priced nor ridiculously hard to find. I have purchased this conditioner more than once at Ulta stores.

Price: 10.14oz - $10.99, 16.9oz - $16.25, 33.8oz - $25
You won't necessarily have to pay this if you stalk Ulta's deals which are frequent

Ingredients:
Not the most natural. There's a water soluble silicone so you won't get buildup. Loads of extracts in the middle of the ingredients. I'm cool with it though.

Smell:
Paul is delivering soap bar swag with this one. It has a slight herbal scent but it's also very soap-like as well. I mean all of this in a good way! The scent fades as the hair dries and other products are added. My hair usually smells like my instant conditioner that I detangle with and not the Paul Mitchell conditioner.

Appearance:
I don't normally have this category on my reviews but it's necessary for this one. This conditioner is BRIGHT BLUE! Child, it's toothpaste blue. It was alarming to say the least but I was soon calmed down. This product smooths into the hair clear! I can wear my wet wash and go out of my house and not get side eyes from people trying to figure out why my hair is white!

Performance:
Slip. I could really just end it there. This conditioner coats the hair well like a thick conditioner but it's slim, tho! I am able to quickly and easily spread this conditioner throughout my hair. It softens up my hair and keeps it moisturized throughout the week. It also works well with any gel that I've tried with it.

Wash and Go Combos | L.A. Looks Absolute Styling Sport Gel

The weather is heating up and more people are typing "wash and go" on Google and YouTube searches. I've decided to do my part and post some wash and go combos that I'm trying out because ain't nobody got time for flakes! We don't want it to look like it's snowing on our hair in the spring/summer.

To test out each combo I will be mixing the products together in my hand. If there are clumps (aka boogers) the combo will likely not fair well on your hair.

Today's Combo:

Soultanicals Knot Sauce + Curl Enhancing Smoothie + L.A. Looks Absolute Styling Sport Gel

Left to right: LA Looks Sport Gel, Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Soultanicals Knot Sauce

Mixed together, this combo does much like anything with Curl Enhancing Smoothie in it. They mix together in a smooth, thick, white layer. What that means for the hair is that this combo will very visibly coat the hair and will take time to absorb fully/dry. There are no boogers so it shouldn't make flakes.

Of course this mixing technique isn't an exact science and adding more of one of the products could cause the whiteness to not completely go away. There are times that my usual combo doesn't dry 100% clear. It happens!

I'll be doing a first impression video for this gel in which this combo will be on my hair. Stay tuned for that!

Video | Eden Bodyworks Leave-In Conditioners | Product Review

I am running through these leave-in conditioners that I hauled this past Black Friday! The products in the spotlight in this post are the EDEN BodyWorks JojOba Monoi All Natural Revitalizing Conditioner and the Eden Bodyworks Peppermint Tea Tree Conditioner. These two conditioners had all the right stuff to attract me: availability, affordability, and good ingredients.

Eden Bodyworks Leave-In Conditioners | Product Review
Though these two conditioners have very similar ingredients, their actual consistencies are very different. The Jojoba Monoi is extremely thick while the Peppermint Tea Tree comes right out of the bottle like a lotion.

Each of these products provide moisture to the hair but the Jojoba Monoi can cause white spots since it is so thick. The Peppermint Tea Tree reminds me of Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner but on level 10! The smell and the tingle are strong!

Video | As I Am Curling Jelly, Leave In, So Much Moisture | Product Review

If you like what you read on my blog be sure to support by subscribing to me on bloglovin', commenting below, and sharing via the social media links. New posts every Monday, Wednesday, and sometimes Friday!

Back around Black Friday, I acquired some of the As I Am products. Prior to this I had only tried their cocoshea spray so I was curious to see what their other products were like. This time around I tried out the Curling Jelly, Leave-In Conditioner, and the So Much Moisture! Hydrating Lotion. You'll need to watch the video to get the full details but in short--you have to use a lot of these products to get results and the definition/moisture is short lived.

Product Review: As I Am Products (FINALLY!!)

It has taken me nearly 3 whole weeks to use all of these As I Am samples. I randomly purchased a sample pack from them last year for less than $5 and it came with a sample of almost all of their products! Because there are so many products to share I will be grouping them based on how I liked them and leaving the ingredients out. Here goes!

The Good

Smoothing Gel - $8 for 8oz
This stuff smells great and is very thick and sticky. The ingredients list--as far as I can tell--is silicone and alcohol free. The gel held my hair just as well as eco styler olive oil gel. The only thing that would hold me back from purchasing this is that there are other super cheap gels with the same properties on the market: eco, ic fantasia, gorilla snot, etc.

DoubleButter Cream - $15.50-28.00 for 8oz-16oz
This stuff is creamy and rich. It provided great moisture.

Twist Defining Cream - $13-22 for 8oz-16oz
This product is super thick, creamy, and moisturizing. I can feel that it has a bit of hold as well. Used it to style twist and rubbed it over them a week later before untwisting for a twist out.

CocoShea Spray $15 for 4oz
A friend bought this for me in the full size so I took the sample traveling. This spray is moisturizing and provides shine. It is perfect for keeping twists moisturized and with very little frizz.

The Not Too Bad

Curling Jelly - $13-22 for 8oz-16oz
Used this product as a styler for a braid out. The braid out came out very nicely and survived a light rain while I entered and exited church. As for how long the style lasted, it made it to day 3, but desperately needed to be refreshed. My hair is also a bit dry <--could be the DB cream or the Jelly's fault.

Curl Clarity Shampoo - $12 for 8oz
I think this is a clarifying shampoo, but it does not have silicones. It is very thin and clear like water. It was easy to lather up (there is lather) and it was easy to rinse. My hair came out clean.

Leave-In Conditioner - $10.50 for 8oz
I do like this stuff. It has a very thin "shampoo-like" consistency and spreads very well. I had about half a packet left after applying this stuff to my hair. The next day my air dried hair has a nice little sheen to it and is soft to the touch. I will be using this again as I comb out my stretched hair before preparing to trim.

Hydration Elation Intensive Conditioner - $16 for 8oz
I really liked the texture of this product. It feels like a body butter and melts when you rub it in your hands. It "wets" the hair when it is applied and my hair felt very nice when I finished conditioning. The product had some slip but not an amazing amount. I also liked the smell.

The Ugly

Coconut Cowash - $8 for 16oz
No sir, no ma'am. I did not like this stuff. The texture was cool, it felt like a mix between shaving cream and conditioner. Application was fine and it did not lather--as expected anyhow. It was the actual rinsing that gave me problems. I am very obsessive when I rinse my hair. I take time and make sure everything is out, even scratching my scalp to "test" the cleanliness. This cowash failed the test and took a lot of my time. I just don't feel like my hair is as clean as it could be.

Moisture Milk - $16 for 8oz
This is a lot like water. It didn't dry my hair out but neither did it wow me.

Product Review: Hawaiian Silky 14-in-1

Their Promise:

  • Cools and soothes scalp to help heal abrasions
  • Helps stop itching and dandruff
  • Helps hair stay soft
  • Looks fresh all day
  • Non-greasy

Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker 14 in 1 is an excellent product for protecting and maintaining your hairstyle. This versatile product can be used as a curl activator and moisturizer on natural curls and perm waved hair and a leave-in conditioner for relaxed, natural and braided hair. This non-greasy, non-staining formula helps to soften and detangle hair while soothing the scalp and healing abrasions leaving a vibrant sheen.

Directions:
Hold bottle about 12 inches away from hair and spray evenly. Massage into hair and scalp and style. For curly hair and braids, use daily. On relaxed or straight hair, use prior to drying.

Ingredients:
water, glycerin, propylene glycol, cetyl alcohol stearalkonium chloride, PEG-75 lanolin, acetamide AME, mineral oil (paraffinum liquidum), stearyl alcohol, polysorbate-80, simmondsia chinensis seed oil, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, panthenol, menthol, tetrasodium EDTA, triethanaolamine, archangelica root extract, arctium lappa root extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) extract, sympytum officinale leaf extract, viscum album extract, urtica dioica extract, avena sativa meal extract, rosmarinus officinalis leaf extract, salvia officinale leaf extract, nasturitium officinale extract, DMDM hydantoin, methylparaben, propylparaben, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, fragrance

Price:
$5.99

My Opinion:
I'll admit that when I first got this product I thought it was gonna be really greasy. I was worried. However, it was for nothing. This product leaves the hair SUUUUUPER crazy soft and non-greasy.

I apply it as a leave-in and as a daily moisturizer. It is so moisturizing that I can skip a day of moisturizing and my hair looks just fine.

I apply this product in my hand with 3 pumps per section for a total of 12 pumps for my entire head. I could probably use less, but I'm comfortable with what I do. I seal with EVOO.

My relaxed hair likes this product, but my natural hair has had a full on love affair with this product. It is soft, silky, and "relaxed". The curl pattern is even more defined than before.

Yes, it has mineral oil and yes, the ingredients are crazy long but this product gets two thumbs and two big toes up from me...AND it's 16oz!

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ /3 EXCELLENT!

Product Review: Neutrogena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave-In Cream

Their Promise:
Moisturizes for instant and lasting improvements to hair texture and manageability. This silky leave-in cream melts effortlessly into strands, moisturizing while diminishing flyaways and frizz. Hair stays naturally soft and touchable all day - no flaking, heaviness or stickiness. The advanced formula helps improve hair quality with every use. Contains UV filters.

Directions:
Shake well. Apply to damp hair. Dispense a small amount into palm, then spread between hands to form a thin layer. Gently work cream downward throughout hair with fingers, concentrating on ends and outer layers. Do not rinse. Style as usual.

Ingredients:
Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Behenyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Polyquaternium 37, Cetrimonium Chloride, Behentrimonium Chloride, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Cyclohexasiloxane, Meadowfoam Seed Oil (limnanthes alba), Olive Fruit Oil (olea europaea), Sweet Almond Oil (prunus amygdalis dulcis), Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Methoxy-Dibenzoylmethane, PPG 1 Trideceth 6, Phenyltrimethicone, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance (Parfum)

Price:
$7-$8

My Opinion:
NTM Leave-In has an indescribable smell. It's a very "clean" almost "soap-like" smell. I don't mind the scent, but it turns some people off. The consistency is like that of a thin lotion. The product goes on smoothly and does what it says it will. My hair airdried silky and smooth when I applied this product along with EVOO. I love that NTM Leave-In doubles as a moisturizer. It works well to keep my hair soft all week. This product is a hit and miss type. If you are avoiding cones and parabens and are turned off by the smell, it won't be the product for you. Also, if you need something heavy you won't like this product. I don't have a problem with any of the above.

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ /3 EXCELLENT!
