Glycerin: A Warning

For the past few months I have been using Hawaiian Silky 14-in-1 Miracle Worker as a moisturizer. It worked well and my hair was moisturized and soft to the touch. However, I was thinking one day and realized that my "out" styles just don't have the hold that they used to have. I then realized that Hawaiian Silky is known for containing Glycerin--a humectant.

Humectants attract moisture to your hair from the atmosphere. I live in the south, so there is plenty of moisture in the humid air. I realized that the excess moisture must be pulling my hair down and causing styles that used to last a week, to fall after only one day. What did I do? I went out and bought Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Split End Protector!

Once I remove the yarn braids I'm going to attempt a style with the HE LTR and see if it holds up like it used to. If it does, the Hawaiian Silky is heading to a trash can outside my house or a mailbox near you!

Do you find your styles flop on the first day? Check the ingredients in your products!

Great post! I had that discovery a few years ago when I first got into "juicing" and my bantu knot outs frizzed within hours of leaving the house! #notcute
