Shedding and breakage are often used interchangeably but they are not the same. Shedding is a natural part of your hair's growth cycle. As a final step in the cycle, the hair comes out at the root and a new hair grows in it's place.
You can shed anywhere from 50-150 hairs a day! Multiply that by however long you go between hair washing/wetting.
See a doctor if you are experiencing excessive shedding which can be caused by stress, weight loss, and changes in diet.
